Parish Council Meeting Updates
The council conducted on September 16th had decided to celebrate the parish feast from October 21st to 23rd, and it was suggested to request the eminent participation of Mar Jose Kalluvelil (Bishop), and Archbishop Donald J. Bolen (Arch Diocese of Regina). Also, it was decided to conduct special Novena to honour the Parish Patron- St John Paul II. To improve the participation, the council has decided to avoid sponsorship from outside but to encourage prasudenthi’s.
Every family in the parish would be personally contacted and would be encouraged to
participate in the event
The council also evaluated the Sunday school classes and ward coordinators were requested to contact the parents individually and promote the catechism classes. The council has suggested to conduct house visits in the parish prior to Parish feast. Also, it was suggested to start special English mass once a month for the children and to start choir practice for the same.
CATECHISM DEPARTMENT UPDATES & INAUGURATION OF NEW ACADEMIC YEAR.
“This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour.” (Titus 3:6) Department meeting of catechism staff was conducted prior to the beginning of new Catechism
academic year 2022 – 2023. The topics covered in the meeting were the new registration and
renewals of children, catechism and Holy mass timings, distribution of textbooks etc.
The new registration and renewals have done through online and offline platforms. New classes were started on 11th September. The official inauguration day we celebrated as ‘Praveshanolsavam’. It was a blessed beginning by the Grace of the God.
ONAM CELABRATIONS
HOLY FAMILY UNIT ONAM CELABRATION.
Holy family unit's Onam celebrations were held on September 10th Saturday at 1909 Ottawa Street Regina, from 3pm till 9pm. Celebrations started with setting up of an attractive floral arrangement in the entrance of the hall. The main attractions of the program were fun games and traditional Onasadya which comprised of varieties of dishes prepared by the unit members. Fr. Daris Cheriyan addressed the celebration and conveyed the wishes of the festival. Prizes for the fun game winners were distributed by Rev.father at the end of celebration. He lauded the commendable participation of all the unit members and coordinators who took initiative for organizing the event and thanked everyone for making the program memorable. Around 60 members from the unit showed their participation for the program. The celebrations were finished by 9pm.
ONAM CELABRATION OF MALAYALI COMMUNITY IN MOOSE JAW.
Malayali people from Moose jaw community gathered to Celebrate the Onam 2022 on 10th September at 2 PM. Around 100 people gathered to Celebrate Onam. Fr. George Thattuparampil from Moose jaw and Fr. Daris from Regina also joined with them for celebrations. The community welcomed newly arrived members to Moosejaw Malayali community and the celebration was wonderful with Onasadya, music, dance, musical chair competition, Tug of war and other different Onam special games. Programs ended by 7 PM.
ST. JOHN PAUL II UNIT’S ONAM CELABRATION.
St. John Paul Unit Onam gathering were held on September 24 th Saturday at arcola east community hall, Regina, from 4 pm-10 pm. At 4.30 all unit members were their in the hall, we started our programs with fun games, everyone wear their traditional dress for Onam, all of the unit members were prepared each dishes for onam sadhya. Fr Daris addressed the celebration with a small prayer, we held a cake cutting for the September month birthday kids. After cake cutting, we continue with fun filled tug war game, it was so interesting, everyone enjoyed a lot, we end up our celebration by giving gifts for all kids, 64 people were participated for gathering, we finished our programs by 10 pm.
NURSES MINISTRY UPDATES.
Nurses Ministry members Internationally conducted a chain Rosary on September 5th 2.30 am to September 6th 2.30 am (Toronto Time). Members from various regions in Canada were participated in this chain Rosary and in Regina Nurses Ministry members conducted this International Chain Rosary at 1.am -2.30 am (Toronto time). In addition, Regina Nurses Ministry Members conducted a chain rosary on Se 13th for the whole world begging for the intercession of the whole world.
NEWS FROM ST. JOHN PAUL II KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL # 17190, SEPT. 2022.
K of C monthly Council meeting was held on Sunday, September 25th after the holy Mass. New members who are yet to be exemplified will be attending the exemplification ceremony being held at Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish, 3155 Windsor Park Rd, Regina. Members who will not make it to the exemplification ceremony, will be attending the exemplification online. Council has taken the responsibility of selling the 2022 State Charity appeal Draw" tickets by 15th, October.
Our Chaplain Rev. Fr. Daris Cherian has invited 15 KoC members from other council for the parish feast.
Members have agreed to represent the council in rotation for the chapter meetings held at St. Basil on first Wednesday of every month.
Our Knights of Columbus received Contest of Champions awards in 2 categories.

Our beloved Grand Knight Mathew Thomas was awarded Father McGivney award.

HOLY MASS AT ST. MARYS SYRO-MALABAR MISSION MOOSEJAW. St. Mary's Syro-Malabar Mission Moose jaw conducted its first Malayalam Mass after Pandemic and Easter. More than 60 People participated in Holy Mass and socialization. We welcomed newly arrived families and students to our St. Mary's mission parish. Holy Mass was held at 6:30 PM, followed by social gathering. Fr. Daris Cherian celebrated Holy Mass and Fr. George Thattuparampil addressed the community. We decided to have our next Holy Mass on October 24th Monday at 6 PM.
