Mar Raphael Thatt was born on 21st April 1956. He started his priestly training at St. Mary's Minor Seminary, Thrissur and then completed his training from St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Vadavathur and was ordained to the priesthood on 21 December 1980 by Mar Joseph Kundukulam.He received his doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome
Mar Jose Kalluvelil ,He obtained his Doctorate in catechesis from the Salesian University, Rome. he was doing pastoral ministry to the Syro-Malabar faithful in Toronto. Then he was ordained the bishop of the Syro Malabar Catholic Exarchate of Canada in 2015 and became the Eparch in 2018 after the elevation of the exarchate to an eparchy.
